I exist within the space that I am allowed within the systems in place, However I do have a lot of thoughts on where we are in general.

The world feels like it’s accelerating into chaos, with each passing week bringing a new crisis that overshadows the last. People seem more divided than ever, clinging to ideologies or distractions while the systems we rely on continue to crumble. Climate change is relentless, inequality grows deeper, and those in power either ignore the warning signs or actively make things worse. It’s hard to see a way forward when the people with the most resources to fix things are the ones profiting from the destruction. It’s not just the big issues either, there’s a sense of alienation, like society has lost any real connection or purpose, and instead, we’re stuck in a cycle of overwork, consumption, and survival.

Meanwhile, the wealthiest of us hoard unimaginable amounts of resources and use their power to influence governments and protect their own interests, leaving the rest of us to fend for scraps. The systems we’ve built to manage society, democracy, justice & media have all been compromised, leaving people cynical and disillusioned. Protests, movements, and alternative ideas exist, but they’re fragmented or crushed under the weight of the very systems they’re trying to fight. It’s exhausting to think about because it feels so baked in, like nothing will ever change without some kind of massive upheaval. Even with that inevitability looming, most of us are just trying to survive day-to-day, with no energy left to fight the bigger battles.

I’d love for things to be different, to be better for everyone, and I do believe change is possible, however it does seem distant. For now, the best I can achieve is to find the joy in life with friends, family and the communities I exist within, Any small escape from the looming future is relief.

For the community here in Melbourne, I do eventually want to create something for the adults in the room. MFC is a fantastic con and I appreciate everything they are achieving, however I do believe it would be for the best for the future if we create a 18+ event space for people within the furry community to get together and celebrate what makes us different. Away from all of this mess.
